Love & Hip Hop: Miami Season 1 Episode 1 Recap: Peace and Hair Grease
Dominican singer Amara La Negra is poised to be the breakout star. From her gorgeous eyes, million dollar smile and her beautiful afro she jumped off the screen. Determined to crossover into the American market in hopes to take care of her mother. In doing so she wholeheartedly embraced her Afro-Latino roots. Those roots seemed to confuse Latin Trap producer Young Hollywood. He didn’t know if Amara was Afro-Latina because she is Black or because she has an afro.
Since skin bleaching might have been too far for Hollywood he suggested Amara lose the fro, claiming it was too Macy Gray and not enough Beyonce. He went on to say her afro wasn’t cookie cutter and the industry wants cookie cutter. Amara wasn’t going and quickly ended the working relationship between Hollywood and herself.
Da Baddest Bitch Trina had thought she got the Keyshia Cole package when she signed up to be on Love & Hip Hop: Miami, but her cousin Bobby Lytes had other plans.
Bobby is an aspiring rapper who has a sense of entitlement I guess due to being Trina’s cousin. Bobby’s entitlement is one thing but his attitude is another story. He crashed a lunch and began arguing with Trina’s assistant Alvin. These two have fought in the past and if they don’t ease their sexual tension will continue to fight.
Trina tried to talk some sense to Bobby but he refused to fall in line stating, “I’m family and will be respected.”
Buckey, Shay, Shay Johnson has worked her way up the vh1 reality series ladder. Starting on Flava of Love, then to Charm School, a couple of seasons on LHHATL, and now she is in the opening credits of LHHMIA. But if her stay in the credits is anything like her relationship with Pretty Ricky frontman Pleasure P, that might be short-lived.
Shay feels Pleasure P doesn’t need Pretty Ricky and isn’t afraid to voice her opinion. Letting the group specifically Baby Blue know they ain’t nothing without David Ruffin Pleasure P. Baby Blue didn’t help matters, by calling Shay a hoe from a halfway house.
MMG’s Gunplay return to Miami wasn’t a celebratory one due to his girlfriend Keyara. She’s worried about him and his demons/exes coming back to haunt him. Miami Tip formerly Tip Drill might be one to worry about. Gunplay will be spending time in the studio with Tip, someone he has slept with but feels Keyara doesn’t need to know the details of their past relationship.
