You Should Know UK Singer Fabienne
Fabienne Soulful Angel Full of Pop
My late night adventures on the internet usually end with me either watching something on Netflix, or falling down a deep rabbit hole of YouTube videos consisting of dog breeds that I would never own, or viewing a bevy of adult entertainment. Last night though I found myself on Complex’s website, though I loathe their slideshow lists, one in particular How To Dress Like Your Favorite Cartoon Character tickled my fancy.
My love for Disney’s late 90’s animated series Recess finally paid off. A cartoon that focused on six kids in their life at school. T.J. Detweiler was the leader of the crew and his simple attire of a red snap back turned backwards, white t-shirt with an olive bomber jacket was his dress code. I was interested in the Alpha Industries MA1 Bomber Jacket which retailed for $207 at ASOS.
Knowing good and well there was no way I would purchase the jacket, I left the site, but not before I clicked the video ad for the jacket. The video was mundane, but to my surprise it had music to accompany the showcasing of the jacket. The song was a groovy sunkissed melody. Before it was over i was already typing the lyrics “dizzy getting lost in post card...” The video quickly ended and right as I was about to replay it, I noticed the ad now read, “You were listening to Sunstroke by Fabienne.”
I went on a search that popped up at least two other Fabiennes before I decided to type the singer’s name followed by Sunstroke. Finally that brought up her soundcloud.
More searching led me to find out that Fabienne is from London. And began to garner attention here in the states after he cover of Kanye West’s Slow Jamz. she flipped the song into a baby maker the likes of which would make Marvin Gaye proud of. Her voice comes across as a soulful whisper. Angelic at times, but with enough bravado to rival the hottest MC.
She just released an EP City of Shadows that’s available on iTunes that features Sunstroke as well as three other tracks. Other than a one interview I didn’t find much else about her other than the basics, but can’t wait to here more from the soulful singer.
Below I've posted some of her songs as well as her video for Taxi and City of Shadows
