The RAW, The BAD, & The UGLY Week of 12-16-13
The Right, The Wrong, & The Downright Awful from Monday Night RAW
The Raw: Randy Orton vs Daniel Bryan
Randy Orton vs. Daniel Bryan. I would like to believe that Randy Orton read last week's #RBU because he was sound on the mic. Fully embracing his heel role explaining to the rest of the superstars that he's where he belongs because he's that much better than them. I love it. Orton is at his best when he boasts and carries a devil may care attitude. Monday's match has been by far Orton's best match in recent months. Bryan and Orton are starting to show chemistry (where was this when they wrestled 3 consecutive PPVs). As a Chicago native its hard for me to say, but Bryan is showing me that he is the best wrestler in the business. My friend and colleague Jernard (who writes "10 For Creative" check that out by the way) campaigned on Bryan's behalf two years ago, then I wasn't listening but now Bryan has my full support. Where has this Orton been? Holding his own in the ring with Bryan they went back in forth like two kids playing air hockey all the while I'm standing in front of my television chanting "THIS IS AWESOME!". Plus the finish made sense, one of the rare times I have to give Creative credit. Orton still has not defeated Bryan cleanly, which keeps Bryan and his beard in the title picture.
Bonus: Tamina's super kick on Nikki Bella STIFF! That is all.
The Bad: The Rhodes vs Big Show & Rey Mysterio
I can't understand for the life of me as to why I'm all of a sudden suppose to forget that Big Show knocked out Dusty Rhodes and now all is forgiven. Why do we have to sit here and watch "Misterishow" show sympathy for the second night in a row for a Rhodes were they help them up like awe... you guys fought the good fight. Seriously Cody & Goldust are the champions but they're looking weak. Plus I don't need to stomach another made up super team winning the tag titles again just because the booking doesn't have anything for them to do and I damn sure do not want to see Big Show holding the tag titles again. Big Show has been World Tag Team Champions/WWE Tag Team Champions five times with four different partners, Undertaker twice, Chris Jericho, Kane, and The Miz and now it's looking like he will be a 6 time t champ with Rey Mysterio.
The Ugly: John Cena
During a good promo by Orton, Cena takes it upon himself to interrupt, why did he even have a mic in the first place. John Cena insults Orton and offers up Daniel Bryan as an opponent for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship. This is the second week in a row John Cena has used Daniel Bryan to get a pop, but this bothered me because in the opening segment Cena basically cut a promo for Bryan. This kind of makes Bryan look lesser than not only Orton but Cena as well. Fast forward to the finish of the show and after Orton delivers a low blow to Bryan resulting in a DQ for Orton, Cena comes running down to check on Bryan as if he is a damsel in distress and to beat up Orton. Cena didn't have a reason to interject himself in this match, at TLC Orton defeated him well within the rules, and Orton had no interaction with Cena the whole night besides the opening. WWE could have just given us a great throwaway match, since Royal Rumble isn't until January 26. During Cena's rescue mission, commentary mentions Cena's rematch. Cena shouldn't get a rematch with Orton, his title doesn't exist anymore. What rematch is he due if he has never won the WWE World Heavyweight title?
