Review | The Game S6 | E10 Preseason

The Game has always been better when it focused more on drama than comedy, and today's episode was a perfect example of this. The dramatic moments were top notch and heartfelt. Finally the characters felt real again.

'Blue' and Kierra's night of passion turned out to be what both needed. Kierra is smitten with 'Blue' to the point that she makes him breakfast in bed--peanut butter and jelly--and sex with Kierra is just what cured 'Blue's' on the field problems. In the first pre-season game 'Blue' catches two touchdown passes, but his celebratory mood is cut short when he learns that Kierra was a virgin. This leads to a heated confrontation between Kierra and 'Blue' that was so emotional I forgot these two aren't that good at acting.  But just like the conflict these two had from the first episode, this one is another mountain being made out of a mole hole.

After accepting 'Pookie's' proposal, Tasha has no problem showing everyone the ring, but she does have a problem telling Rick Fox. Tasha continues to juggle both men, with no intentions of firing neither one in hopes that one of these guys will eventually quit her. We get some comedy from Tasha as she tries to hide the fact that she's engaged from Rick Fox in some pretty clever ways.

The climax of this episode is actually a pay off to the Three's Company antics we got from Jason and Chardonnay in the previous episodes. "Kiss Cam" moment with Rick Fox and Chardonnay is the straw that breaks Jason's back. Chardonnay forced to tell Jason everything. The exchange between Tasha and Jason, was a treat for old fans, the mentioning of Kelly Pitts worked extremely well as it added fuel to this fiery standoff. And when you think it can't get any better "Pookie" shows up and Jason doesn't hesitate to attempt to spill the beans about Tasha and Rick Fox.

This episode had everything, even a "Dip & Pitts" reference. 'Blue' after eight episodes brings up 'The Colonel,' which I hope means he will be in future episodes. The writers have a hefty job of keeping this pacing up, as a viewer this had to be the first time I didn't miss Melanie and Derwin. Questions from this episode: Why does 'Blue' double up on smiley faces? 'Why does 'Blue' save text messages from Ciara and then bring them up in argument? Why did Chardonnay hide Tasha's affair with Rick Fox from Jason in the first place?
