  • Grammys

    • Carlos Santana vs Beyonce says In an interview with the Australian Associated Press ahead of tour dates there, Mr. Santana said: “Beyoncé is very beautiful to look at and it’s more like modeling kind of music — music to model a dress — she’s not a singer, singer, with all respect to her.” Adele, on the other hand, “doesn’t bring all the dancers and props, she can just stand there and she just stood there and sang the song and that’s it, and this is why she wins,” he added.

    • Beyhive got to buzzing and he backtracked and claimed that a quote that appeared to be critical of Beyonce’s singing was taken out of context by the media.

    • George Michael Tribute Grammy executive producer Ken Ehrlich revealed to the Hollywood Reporter that an early idea for the performance involved Beyoncé and Rihanna joining Adele on stage. According to Ehrlich, George Michael's manager Michael Lippman wanted the three artists, plus host James Corden, to perform a mashup of Michael's hits including “Freedom” and “One More Try.” The original plan changed when it became clear “how passionate Adele was” about the performance. “I Knew You Were Waiting” “Careless Whisper”

  • Big Sean Debuts at No. 1, Selling 151,000 equivalent album units (65,000 traditional), earning Sean Don his second consecutive No. 1 after 2015’s Dark Sky Paradise, which sold 173,000 units (139,000 traditional). Also got slapped by a fan at CD signing

  • Notorious BIG documentary greenlit, The late rapper’s mother, Voletta Wallace, has authorized Notorious B.I.G.: One More Chance. The project will be directed by Emmett and Brendan Malloy. The documentary will have the rights to feature his music. And don’t forget . USA is prepping a true-crime series on the murders of Biggie and Tupac. There’s also a TBS comedy inspired by Biggie’s lyrics underway.

Announcements

  • Chris Brown announces Party tour with 50 Cent, French Montana, Fabulous, O.T. Genesis and Kap G. (he hasn’t released any dates or any ticket info yet)

  • Chance the Rapper Spring tour (one that starts and ends in California, spans almost 40 dates)  Lollapalooza or the Pitchfork Music Festival, the two big Chicago summer music events.

  • Future announced new album and tour (Migos, Tory Lanez, Kodak Black) and on certain dates (Young Thug & ASAP Ferg) one city has both sunlight amphitheater Ridgefield, WA 34 city tour

  • Rick Ross’ Rather You Than Me has a release date and its March 17th St. Patrick Day
