6 Rap Songs To Celebrate Mother's Day

Eminem - Headlights

Eminem has made a career out of beef with pop stars, his ex wife Kim and his mother. So it was a huge surprise when he released The Marshall Mathers LP 2 last year, the song Headlights was a tribute/apology to his mom and a reflection on their strained relationship.

Drake - Look What You've Done

When Drake isn't in Champagne Papi mode, he's usually spewing on about something emotional, and Look What You've Done is a great an example of this. Rapping over "If U Scared, Say U Scared" as performed by Playa, its not just a song about his mother, Drake dedicates this to not only his mother, but his grandmother and uncle as well.

YG - Sorry Mama

West coast rapper YG is known more for hard tracks such as My Nigga and Who Do You Love, but Sorry Momma is well put together song about all the struggles YG has put his mother through. And at this point in his life he realizes he was wrong and wants to not only apologize but thank her for everything she is done.

Ghostface Killah - All That I Got Is You

In one of the most heartfelt songs not just about moms but in rap period, Ghostface Killah's All That I Got Is You plays out like a period piece biopic. Painting pictures of what its like to grow up in poverty, Mary J Blige on the hook and humming along as Ghosts raps helps capture the struggle beautifully.

Kanye West - Hey Mama

Day one Ye fans first heard Kanye West's Hey Mama on an advanced copy of his debut album College Dropout. The final version appeared in 2005 on West's second album Late Registration. Unfortunately Kanye's mother Donda West died due to cosmetic surgery complications. In turn Kanye West performed a moving rendition of the song at the 2008 Grammys.

2Pac - Dear Mama

Dear Mama was released while 2Pac was incarcerated as the first single from Me and Against The World. Dear Mama was the most successful of the singles released from the album, going on to sell 7 million. 2Pac recounts his childhood, the pain and agony he put his mother, Afeni Shakur, through, as well as how hard it must of been as single black mother raising two kids. Dear Mama is arguably one of the greatest songs in hip hop history.
