Tiff and Myself (Both Mothers) Spent Father's Day Drinking Beers

Tiff and Myself (Both Mothers) Spent Father's Day Drinking Beers

On Father's Day, Tiffanie (one of my co-hosts on themwtpodcast) and I got the chance to hang out and try some different beers.  We went to my local liquor store, The Vineyard, and though its small its still packed with a large variety to choose from.  Below is a list of beers we tried and their ABV (alcohol by volume).

Flying Dog Bloodline Blood Orange IPA ABV: 7%

Lisa: This was the beer I was really most excited to try and I was just disappointed. There was no Blood Orange taste and it was very bitter.  Would never drink it again.

Tiffanie: This beer was extremely bitter. I was excited because we enjoyed the Mike's Hard Blood Orange so much. I was rather disappointed with this one.

Kentucky Bourbon Barrel Ale ABV: 8.19%

Lisa: This was already my favorite beer so I got to just sit back and enjoy it.  Goes down smooth and it has that hint of a refreshing bourbon taste.  Yummo!! Yes you can yummo drinks too.

Tiffanie: I've stated on the show, that I enjoy this beer. This time I'm able to enjoy it cold and let me tell you it was even better!! Smooth caramel finish.

Dogfish Head 60 Minute IPA ABV: 6%

Lisa: This was hoppy but not as hoppy as I expected.  I usually don't try anything hoppy but I do like Dogfish Head beers so I thought I'd give it a try.  It isn't my favorite but I would try it again.

Tiffanie: I found this drink to be pretty hoppy. It was slightly bitter, but the finish was surprisingly smooth. Probably not a drink I would purchase, but if someone handed it to me at a party I wouldn't turn it down.

Left Hand Brewing Co. Milk Stout Nitro ABV: 6.0%

Lisa: I like different stout beers so I was excited to try this one and I really liked it. It was very smooth with hints of coffee and I couldn't tell if I tasted a little chocolate as well.  It also seemed a little thicker than most beers.  I'd buy this one when I'm in the mood for not my normal.

Tiffanie: A while back I tried a stout beer and found it to be too bitter for my liking, but then someone introduced me to Nitro Stouts and I was sold. This stout beer was extremely smooth with hints of coffee. I would definitely drink this beer again.

McKenzies Hard Cider Black Cherry  ABV: 5.0%

Lisa:  I'm not a cherry fan but Tiffanie talked about how good it was so I was willing to try it.  I loved it. It seems it would be a great hot summer day refreshing beer to drink.  It's sweet but delicious.  I'd buy it again.

Tiffanie: Awesome cider. Definitely on the sweet side, so I would probably stick to only drinking one of these in one sitting. It has a rich flavor so I would recommend drinking it closer to fall.

Wells Banana Bread Beer ABV: 5.2%

Lisa: I had to ask if this was a artificial banana flavor or was it more on the real banana flavor.  It definitely did taste like banana bread but was to artificial for me.  I wouldn't buy it again.

Tiffanie: I had tried this beer before based on my brother's recommendation and at that time I felt cheated. It didn't really taste of banana at all. Thistime around I could definitely taste the subtle hints of banana bread in it. I would attribute it to my ever evolving alcohol pallet.

We definitely aren't beer tasting professionals but we love trying new drinks.  If you haven't listened to our Podcast we always try and give our opinions of the drink choice at the beginning of each and every show.  You should check that out too. It's theMWTpodcast.
