5 Best Muppets Hip-Hop Video Mashups

When Jim Henson created The Muppets in 1955 Hip-Hop's Godfather Afrika Bambaataa wasn't even born yet. 60 years later The Muppets are still going strong and Hip-Hop has gone from an underground culture birthed in New York to a genre of music heard worldwide.

While The Muppets are more known for comedy than music, they do have a few notable original songs under their belt. But you won't see any of those on this list. Instead some talented folks decide to put Muppets footage with some of the biggest songs in Hip-Hop history.

Bone Thugs-n-Harmony "Tha Crossroads"

One of the greatest songs of all-time by one of the greatest Hip-Hop groups of all-time. Bone Thugs-n-Harmony Tha Crossroads dealt with the hardships of growing up in Cleveland, and the death of loved ones. Dedicated to their mentor Eazy-E Tha Crossroads to this day is the highest-debuting rap single on the Billboard Hot 100, was the best selling single in 1996 and won a Grammy for Best Rap Performance by a Duo or Group.

Biz Markie "Just A Friend"

Biz Markie's second album The Biz Never Sleeps was chocked full of samples but none more famous than Freddie Scott's 1968 song "You Got What I Need." Biz used the melody for the song's chorus which finds him trying to figure out whats going on with the woman who he has eyes for and a man she claims is just a friend.

Digital Underground - The Humpty Dance

Digital Underground can be best described as a Hip-Hop version of Parliament-Funkadelic. Sampling funk bands of the 70s to craft their own sound. On their debut album Sex Packets two singles would emerge. One being "Doowutchyalike" and the other "The Humpty Dance" a song rapped by Digital Underground's front man Shock G's alter ego, "Humpty Hump." A dance track that found "Humpty" making fun of himself for not having everyday good looks but still getting ladies.

Naughty By Nature - Hip Hop Hooray

Jersey based Naughty By Nature had already scored a timeless hit with "O.P.P." off their debut album, Naughty By Nature. But destined to not become merely one hit wonders, Naughty By Nature's second album 19 Naughty III, featured the celebratory "Hip Hop Hooray." Their love of all things of Hip Hop was on full display.

Rick Ross - Hustlin'

Rick Ross' "Hustlin'" gave listeners a different look at Miami. Instead of sunny beaches, palm trees, and thong bikinis, Ross' Miami was filled with drug kingpins, fast cars, and what happens when you cross the boss.
