Everyday is Eggplant Friday And I Don't Like It

Not Just For Gray Sweatpants Anymore...

Men historically were known to be shallow, as the old saying goes, Women fall in love by what they hear. Men fall in love by what they see. That’s why most women wear makeup and most men lie. But men being vain is a new phenomenon. We are firmly in the era of metro-sexuals, selfies, and eggplants and things have drastically changed.

More and more men have added the title of vain to their repertoire. When I was young the title "Pretty Boy" was held for the douchest of douches, oh and R&B singer Ginuwine. Men did not know or merely did not acknowledge they were good looking, they left that to the fairer sex. And even if a man knew he was above average in the looks department, he played coy to the notion and as a result became more attractive to the woman he was courting.

But now men not only acknowledge their physically attractiveness, they flaunt it. Everyday a new entertainer takes a picture chest naked with their whistle imprint protruding towards us like Jaws in 3D.

Sometimes rapper, ex-boyfriend of Sevyn Streeter B.o.B kicked things off with #EggplantFridays and soon after former B2K memeber and current Love & Hip-Hop: Hollywood star Lil Fizz jumped on board. Things seeming got quiet until just a week ago West Coast rapper The Game took a selfie or two and gave these women and some men the vapors. And now today another former B2K member and star of #LHHH Omarion jumped on board.

This is where I have to address those of you who are saying I'm just hating and if I don't like then don't look. My problem isn't with the pictures in general, these are grown men who are free to do what they want. My problem is when did this become cool? And for the record I can grab a tube sock and take the same damn picture!

I was raised to believe as men we had to offer more than looks, you had to be a conversationalist, a cook, Mr. Fix It, funny, etc. Playing the looks card was for guys who were "lame" and all they had to offer was a big dick and a smile. Now men who have clowned women for this behavior for years are all of sudden adapting it?

If a woman was showing more skin than little bit, out came the prejudging. She a hoe, she has nothing to offer, how can she get mad when guys come at her wrong look how she looks? I guess none of that applies to men. The double standard must be in full effect.
